“Desiree’s Baby” is an interesting short story by the American author, Kate Chopin. This is not the first time that I am reading her work but this story made me ponder a lot about the antebellum period. Although Kate Chopin has written this story quite later after the slavery issue was almost over but the agony and the horrifying past of the blacks got highlighted through it appropriately. I personally think that one cannot literally escape from his or her past as it continues to haunt them forever like it happened for Desiree and also her husband, Armand. This story also reflects how the society viewed the Blacks at that time.
